We’ll conquer Boko Haram soonest — COAS

Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt-Gen. Kenneth Minimah, has declared that any moment from now, insecurity in the country orchestrated by the Boko Haram insurgents would be a thing of the past, as the country is about surmounting the challenge.

The country has suffered so much damage in the hands of Boko Haram insurgents, who have continued in wanton destruction of lives and property, as well as taken scores captive.

This has also led to several military offensives by troops who have also killed many of the insurgents and taken others into detention to safeguard the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

These hostilities culminated into a ceasefire deal and the outcome is still being awaited.

However, the Army chief, while commissioning facilities in schools and also performing the foundation laying ceremony of a secondary school owned by Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, NAOWA, told the wives of soldiers to be patient and continue to support their husbands in their chosen profession.

“Permit me to comment on the support you have given us as wives and mothers in our absence as we are busy working on the security challenge of this nation, as you have remained the rock behind us and also shared our pains and joy of this profession. I can only pray that all your efforts bear fruit at the end and you share in this joy of our profession.

“I also urge you to continue to identify with the activities of the Nigerian Army especially at this time that we have this security challenge and indeed we will surmount it in a little while.

“I wish to assure the National president and all members of NAOWA that the Nigerian Army will always support you and provide an enabling environment for you to achieve your destined and desired objectives.

“Let me also express our appreciation to the president and the chief commander of the Armed Forces, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for his entire support to the Nigerian Army. I equally thank all Nigerians who have suffered the brunt of this security challenge that we have today across the nation,” Minimah stated.
